It is said that prevention is better than cure. So it is better to keep diabetes at bay than falling a victim and trying for a cure. No special food or complicated diet is necessary. Just eat right food at right time and in right amount and you will remain healthy. Ideal food and regular exercise can keep diabetes away from your life.

Try to control the body weight. If you have become obese and this condition is for a long time then there is chance of increased sugar level. So make a habit of regular exercise to control the weight. Walking, jogging or running in the morning are good exercises. Swimming helps to shed off fat from all over the body and helps to control the secretion from different hormonal gland too.





So far the diet is concerned eat more protein and less carbohydrate, fat and sugar. It is better to say complete no to sugar. Eat plenty of leafy vegetables and fresh fruits. But avoid those vegetables that contain excess of carbohydrates, protein and fat.

It is better to consume vegetables containing anti-oxidants, minerals and vitamins. Bring variety in your food by taking different types of salads with different types of sugar-free sauces. Vegetables can be eaten both raw and in cooked form. They can be baked, grilled and micro-waved to keep the fat content low.

Groundnut helps to keep blood sugar level low in the blood. It is also a great remedy of malnutrition. Bitter gourd is rich in iron, vitamin C, B1 & B2. It is very effective for undernourished people and it acts as strong resistant to various infections.

It also reduces sugar level. Green leafy vegetables contain high density manganese which is important to maintain the healthy insulin levels in the body. So eat plenty of fenugreek leaves, celery, spinach, cabbage, mint, kale, lettuce everyday.

Vegetables like all types of gourd, pumpkin, radish, turnip, eggplant, drumstick, lady’s finger etc. are highly beneficial for diabetic patients as well.





Vegetables also supply good amount of fiber. They promote health and help to prevent many diseases such stroke, coronary heart diseases and different types of cancer.  Vegetables help to increase the mineral density in the bones. Fruits like cucumber, pumpkin and all types of citrus fruits supply lots of vitamin, minerals and fluid without supplying excessive calories.
