Fish Biryani is a luscious spicy dish made with thorn less fish and rice. It is very popular in the coastal areas of India as a  dinner item in special occasions. This article describes how to make a delicious Fish Biryani.


Rice 2 Cups

Fresh tomato puree 1 Cup

Coconut milk 1 Cup

Chili powder 1 teaspoon

Garam masala1 teaspoon

Thorn less fish 12 pieces

Ginger 1 piece

Garlic 8 flakes

Yogurt 1 cup

Green chilies 5

Coriander leaves

Turmeric ½ teaspoon

Onions (chopped) 2

Oil 2 teaspoon




Firs you need to marinate the fish pieces. For that, take green chilies ginger, turmeric and garlic to make a paste. Grind them well adding required salt and make a fine paste. Then, mix the fish pieces with it. When they are well blended, put some chopped coriander leaves over the mixture and put it aside for half an hour.

Now, you have to cook the rice for Biryani. Take a pan pouring one teaspoon oil and heat it. Then, put the rice into the pan and fry it for less than three minutes. After that, add coconut milk and tomato puree along with one and half cups of water. Then, add garam masala and chili powder. Stir it well adding required salt. When they are well blended, reduce the heat and cover the pan. You have to stop cooking the rise before it is fully cooked. Now, you need to cook the marinated fish you kept aside.

Take a pan and heat it pouring one teaspoon oil and fry the chopped onion until it gets a golden color. After that add fish pieces along with required water and cover the pan. Stir it well without breaking the fish and cook it for at least six minutes.

When the fish is well cooked, take a large baking griddle and put half of the cooked rice in it. Then, arrange the cooked fish and its gravy over the rice and put the rest of the rice over the fish.

After that, pour some coconut milk into it and cover the griddle tightly. Then, put it on a high heat for less than eight minutes. After that, open the griddle and transfer it to a serving plate. Now your Fish Biryani is ready to be served.
