Uric acid is a chemical that is formed due to breakdown of certain types of amino acids. It can also be produced due to breakdown of cells in the body. It is eliminated from body through urine and stool.
If the kidney does not work properly then uric acid can accumulate in the body and cause a disease called gout. High level of uric acid in a person’s body also can create various kidney diseases such as kidney failure and kidney stones.
You can bring the amount of uric acid to normal with an ideal habit and diet. Drink plenty of plain water which helps to flush out the toxins from the body. Drink at least 8-10 glasses of water daily. Also drink fruit and vegetable juices, soups, tea, milk, and other liquids to supply enough fluid to your body. Fruits like cherry, banana and apple are very good for one suffering from excess uric acid.
Drink cherry juice regularly because it has anti-oxidant and anti-inflammatory property. Flax seeds, hemp seeds and pumpkin seeds lower the level of uric acid in the body. Celery juice is also a popular natural remedy for gout and uric acid. Drink a glass of skimmed milk everyday. Buttered milk will not do and it may deteriorate the condition. Eat foods that are rich in potassium such as orange, apple, banana, skimmed milk, yogurt, potato, avocado, kidney beans, yam, etc. Complex protein rich food such as tofu, berries, parsley, celery, cabbage, tomato, tea, etc. are good for person having high uric acid. Consume foods that are low in purines and proteins such as eggs, butter, cheese, corn etc. Consume rice, pasta and bread. Consume vitamin C regularly to bring down uric acid level. Pineapple, red cabbage, bell peppers, lemon and lime are good sources of vitamin C.
Do not eat junk food because most of them are oily and fried. These types of foods do harm if you have high level of uric acid. Say no to any types of meat and especially red meats. Processed and canned foods are rich in purine. So stay away from them. Avoid foods that are high in purines such as liver, kidney, sardines, meat, mackerel, herrings, shell fish, fish, mushroom, poultry, beef, pork, asparagus, beans, peas, etc.
