Difficulty Level: Easy
Servings Per Recipe: 10
Estimated Time Required For Preparation: 10-15 Minutes
Estimated Time Required For Cooking: 4 Hours
Required Ingredients
1 pound of ground beef (lean)
½ pound of sausage
1 cup+ ½ cup of red wine
1 pound of mushroom (any kind)
3 tablespoon of olive oil
2 tablespoon of fresh oregano, finely chopped
1 onion, finely diced
3 ounces of tomato paste
1 medium clove of garlic, minced
1/8th teaspoon of dried rosemary
1/4th teaspoon of red pepper flakes
14-15 ounces of crushed tomato
1/8th teaspoon of fresh thyme, finely chopped
Required Utensils
1 large skillet
1 slotted spoon
1 kitchen knife
1 large bowl
Method Of Cooking
1. Take the mushrooms and cut them in half or quarter them if they are too large. Then take the chopped mushrooms and put them in a large bowl. Fill up the bowl with enough water so as to cover the mushrooms completely. Then let the mushrooms remain in the water for a few minutes. That will take out all the impurities from the mushrooms.

2. While the mushrooms are sitting in the water, take a heavy bottom skillet and oil it with oil equivalent to 2 turns of your olive oil bottle. Set the skillet on medium heat and let the oil sizzle. Once that happens, add the sausage and the beef to the oil and sauté them until they are no longer pink on the outside and are quite soft.
3. Once done, transfer the sautéed meat to a plate and add more oil at this moment if you require. Let the fresh oil heat up and then add the onions and the garlic to the oil. Scrape off any brown bits of meat that may be sticking to the pan. Sauté the vegetables until the onions are translucent and the garlic is aromatic. Then add 1/4th cup of red wine and simmer the sauce for 2-3 minutes.
4. Once the time elapses, add the chopped mushrooms, thyme, rosemary and oregano to the onions and garlic in the skillet. Season the vegetables with a bit of salt and stir to combine all the spices and seasonings nicely with the mushrooms. Then add another 1/4th cup of red wine to the sauce and simmer for another 5 minutes.
5. Then add the sausage and the beef and stir to combine nicely. Top the meat with the tomato paste, pepper flakes and crushed tomatoes. Stir the sauce frequently and simmer for 1 hour. Finally, pour the remaining 1 cup of red wine and simmer the sauce uncovered for another 2-3 hours or until the meats are fork tender. Once the sauce gets reduced, turn off the stove and serve with your favorite pasta.
