Trans fats are actually partially hydrogenated oils, which are produced when liquid oils are changed into solid fats. This process gives fats a longer shelf life.
Hence, they are used widely in readymade victuals such as cookies, biscuits, pies, cakes, chips etc. They are also found in margarines and shortenings. Hence, one should refrain from eating such ready-to-eat goodies. The old adage about fresh cooked home food being healthy is very true!!
