Rheumatoid arthritis is an autoimmune inflammatory disease that affects joints as well as internal organs of the body.Unlike the osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis affects multiple joints and cause inflammation on the tissues surrounding the joints as well as the internal organs and hence it is referred as systemic disease and also called as rheumatoid disease.

The patient may have joint pain, fatigue, lack of energy, muscle pain, stiffness of joints, functional disabilities etc. The symptoms of this disease may disappear after sometime and reappear after a long period and is not fully curable. By following a rheumatoid diet most of the people can manage their symptoms to a great extend.

 



Symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis and food allergies have a strong correlation and hence removing allergenic food from the diet reduces the disease symptoms. The most common foods that cause allergies and worsen the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis are meat, dairy products, wheat, corn, tomato, potato, egg plant, pepper etc. Similarly meat that is high in fats, hydrogenated oils, saturated fats etc are also not ideal for these people. Beneficial Foods

The oil that a person takes makes lot of difference in contributing to the inflammation. Omega 3 fatty acids are ideal for rheumatoid arthritis as it helps to reduce the inflammation to a great extend. The oils that are rich with omega 3 fatty acids include canola oil, salmon oil, soybean oil, walnut oil, avocado oil etc. Cold water fishes such as sardine, salmons, tuna, mackerel, herring etc are good sources of eicosapentaenoic acid which is also known as EPA and is widely used for reducing inflammation.

Experts also recommend the usage of ginger and turmeric to reduce the inflammation and hence incorporate them in the diet to alleviate the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis. Besides these vitamin D rich foods such as shrimps, sunflower seeds, eggs etc are also beneficial. Similarly fresh fruits and vegetables are also ideal to improve the health of the patient and provide strength and stamina to the body.
